Saint Stanislaus senior Leyton Janowsky has been named a National Merit Finalist, according to Saint Stanislaus Principal, Patrick McGrath. The National Merit Finalist designation places Leyton in the top 15,000 students, or top 1%, out of the more than 1.5 million students nationwide who took the 2015 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) their junior year.
Leyton, son of Lisa and Bill Janowsky of Diamondhead, MS, has been a President’s Honor Roll recipient since the ninth grade and is a member of the Saint Stanislaus Honors Program. He is a three year member and current President of the Saint Stanislaus Chapter of Mu Alpha Theta and past Class Representative for his junior and sophomore years. As a member of the Saint Stanislaus Math & Science Team, Leyton recently earned a 1st place finish in computer science and was in the top 5% in math in the Mississippi College Math and Science Tournament. He is also a three year member of the National Society of High School Scholars. For the past three years, Leyton has participated in the Saint Stanislaus Drama Club, serving as the 2015-16 Secretary. Outside of school, Leyton volunteers in several local libraries.
