Please stand for our morning prayer.
We remember that we are in the presence of God.
A reading from the holy Gospel according to John:
Jesus said to his disciples:
“I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now.
But when he comes, the Spirit of truth,
he will guide you to all truth.
He will not speak on his own,
but he will speak what he hears,
and will declare to you the things that are coming.
He will glorify me,
because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.
Everything that the Father has is mine;
for this reason I told you that he will take from what is mine
and declare it to you.”
The Gospel of the Lord.
Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
Let us pray together as a school community in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Dear God, this morning I come before you with a thankful heart because I have a whole new day before me. I say this, knowing that each day is different and filled with many blessings. Sometimes these blessings are easy to accept, but sometimes life is hard. You bless me, O Lord, even in the challenges I face just as you bless me in the fun and happy moments. As I pray now, I ask you to help me uncover the grace and blessing that is within all the challenges that come my way. Help me to embrace them as your son Jesus embraced his sufferings and cross. Amen
We pray all this in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Saint Stanislaus, pray for us.
Will everyone please join me as we recite together the Pledge of Allegiance.
“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
Please remain standing until the dress, grooming, and haircut check have been completed.
Senior Farewell Prayer Service
Today after your 3rd period exam, we will have our Senior Farewell Prayer Service in the Brother Peter gym. Wait until your grade is called to go to the service.
Exams continue today for students in grades 7-11, with 3rd and 4th/5th period exams right after announcements. All students should remember that you will not be allowed to sit for your exam if you do not turn in your textbook on the day of your exam.
8th grade Promotion Practice
Tomorrow during first period, all 8th graders will need to proceed directly to the small dining hall of the College Cafe in order to attend Promotion practice. Do not go to your 1st period class.
Gentlemen, as we get deeper into exams week, please remember your call to be men of character and integrity and resist the urge to cheat, regardless of the circumstances. Not only does it carry a very heavy disciplinary penalty and the academic pain of a zero on your exam, but more importantly, it is a black mark on your character. Please leave SSC this year knowing that you did your best and you did it honestly.
Mission Trip Fundraiser
Please come support the Dominican Republic mission trip by coming to the Waveland Wal-Mart on Friday afternoon and Saturday at lunch. BBQ sandwiches, BBQ nachos, hamburgers, and many other grilled items will be available.
The lunch for today is beef stroganoff; or corndogs; or greek salad.
Words of Wisdom
Today’s Words of Wisdom come from American chef Charlie Trotter, who believed that: “One of the most beautiful things that I can do for you – or that any one of us can do for another – is to serve each other. It’s one of the most human things. It’s one of the most basic things. But you do that from the heart. You do that because you want to connect with somebody. ‘Service, not servitude’ is something that should never be lost.”
Thanks for your attention. Ametur Cor Jesu!
