St. Stanislaus Sailing Team
Welcome to the St. Stanislaus Sailing Team!
For team apparel, please visit out team store.
The Saint Stanislaus sailing program gives students in grades seven through twelve, an opportunity to practice, race and travel to compete against other high schools. We invite all beginner to advanced-level sailors to participate in our program. At the high-level, high school sailing leads to regional and national competitions, summer race teams, and collegiate teams.
The regular sailing season dates are September 8 – December 8 and January 4 – May 11. We will hold an organizational meeting after school on August 14.
Varsity only practices are on Mondays; the entire team practices on Wednesdays. Practice times are 3:40 – 6:00 pm. Always check the Activity Board for team announcements and upcoming events. We communicate in person, by email, by phone, and sometimes by GroupMe chat.
You must be able to swim in order to participate. You must ALWAYS wear a life jacket when on the water. There are NO EXCEPTIONS and this is NON-NEGOTIABLE. This applies to youth and adults that have any connection to the team. This also applies to any non-team members who might get on a team boat for any reason and applies to any boat a team member might go aboard during any sailing team related sailing activity.
We charge a $90 per sailor fee. Last year we were able to make many boat improvements and bought custom shirts for the entire team. Please bring in a check made out to SSC for $90.
Regular participation is required to remain on the team. In order to receive a varsity letter award, you must be a fully participating member of the team who competes at the varsity level, attends at least 60% of team practices, and complete the season in good standing with the team no matter the amount of varsity competition completed.
Regattas generally occur on Saturdays and Sundays. You are expected to pay your personal expenses. Transportation and entry fees are usually provided by the school. If we travel to a national event, you will be expected to cover the cost of airfare and your share of the hotel room and other personal expenses. Some regattas have age or grade level restrictions and some have a limit on the number of sailors allowed.
